GUSD folks,
If you desire to gain more racing experience prior to next year’s high school season…
There is one called Tapia Canyon Classic on June 26th at Castaic. Sounds like a fun one with music & food:

Also, below is an e-mail from the coach of the St. Francis team:

Do you miss our mountain bike rides? I hope that all of you have continued to get on your bikes when you can.
I wanted to tell you about a perfect chance to keep racing your bike. This last Tuesday night, Sean and I drove down to Irvine Lake in Orange, Ca. for the Over the Hump series. These races are held at 6:00pm on Tuesday nights and are a lot of fun. Each lap is less than 4 miles so racing is less than an hour. The racing is very good...there were almost 200 people there this week!
Sean and I made it down in about an hour from La Canada using the carpool lanes. Check out their website for the complete schedule and more information.

Each lap takes about 15 minutes to do. So, I would suggest that you enter Men's Beginner 29 and under (2 laps) or even Men's Sport 29 and under (3 laps). The course is mostly fireroad with a little singletrack. It is not very technical at all.

And if you are interested in a 12 hour race, there is one June 12th at Vail Lake. Don’t be too intimidated by a 12 hour race. If you do it as part of a team, you race for about 1 hour then hang out and party for 3 hours and then get on your bike to race for another hour… and so on. It is some of the most fun racing on mountain bikes!

Plus there are the USAC races which have separate races for different ages and skill levels, including pro. Those of you who raced regularly in the High School league will be able to do these races though they will normally be more challenging than what you are used to. Some of the relatively local ones are below:

June 5-6 Elings Park, Santa Barbara
June 20 Big Bear Lake
July 18 Big Bear Lake
